More Rhinoplasty Information
A brief overview.
If you are considering rhinoplasty we encourage you to schedule a private
consultation with Dr. Naficy or another equally qualified surgeon who regularly
performs rhinoplasty. There is a great variety in nose shapes and features and
each procedure must be custom tailored for the patient to get the best possible
result. During the consultation visit Dr. Naficy will listen to your concerns and
discuss your options. He will tell you whether you are a suitable candidate for
rhinoplasty and inform you of the potential risks of the procedure. Your breathing
passages will also be evaluated and it will be determined whether you are eligible
for insurance coverage of a portion of the procedure. Rhinoplasty costs will be
also discussed at that visit. If you are interested in a rhinoplasty simulation, digital photos can be taken during the consultation visit
and a rhinoplasty simulation will be performed. . . . read more.
Patients seeking rhinoplasty may benefit greatly from a computer simulation of
the potential result. Many undesirable features of the nose affect the profile
much more than they affect the front view. Most of us rarely get a good look at
our profile, and if so, it is usually through a photograph. Computer simulation
allows the surgeon to reshape the nose digitally and to give the patient an idea of
possible outcome from the rhinoplasty procedure. Let's look at an example. . . . read more.
We use "twilight anesthesia" which is a new and innovative method of anesthesia
for rhinoplasty. Twilight anesthesia is extremely safe compared to the standard
general anesthesia techniques used today. The main advantages of twilight
anesthesia are: (i) it does not require putting a breathing tube in the throat, (ii) it
does not require a breathing machine, (iii) the recovery is much faster, (iv) there
is much less "hang-over" from anesthesia, and (v) there is much less nausea. All
these elements translate into greater comfort and safety. Dr. Naficy has used
this technique of anesthesia in several thousand plastic surgery procedures
without any anesthetic complications. . . . read more.
A tape dressing and a protective shell will cover the bridge of the nose for one
week. With modern techniques employed by Dr. Naficy, no packing is required
inside the nose. There may be some discoloration and swelling around the eyes
which will typically improve over 5-7 days. One week is usually enough time for
returning to work and social activities. . . . read more.

rhinoplasty that our patients have asked over the years. If you have a question
for which you don't see an answer here, we welcome you to ask us. . . . read more.
